What you should know about Te Manawa Museum of Art Science and History
Te Manawa's three founding organisations continue to support its development and vision to this day. Te Manawa Art Society, which was established as the Palmerston North Art Gallery Society in 1959, has over the years built up one of the most valuable and representative collections of contemporary New Zealand art in any provincial gallery in the country. In 1977 the Society raised funds to build the present Gallery which it managed until 1994 when it became part of Te Manawa Museums Trust. It depicts 50 of the works, lists the entire collection and tells the story of the Art Society and the Gallery. Support the Art Gallery and become more connected by joining the Society and receiving.
Notification of AGMs which provide an opportunity to join the committee and become involved in the future direction of the Gallery. To find out more about becoming a Te Manawa Art Society Member, Download the Art Society Membership Brochure. Membership of the Te Manawa Museum Society is for people interested in history, museum principles and their applications, and increasing public awareness of these through contributing to a society supporting Te Manawa. Te Manawa presents regularly changing displays in its Museum, Art Gallery and Science Centre.
The Museum Society is one of the founding societies of the institution now known as Te Manawa and has a strong desire for Te Manawa, and the museum galleries in particular, to grow in their public appeal. It aims to support Te Manawa staff in developing exhibitions and organises events for members from time to time. Your support for the Museum Society also helps to bring special events and exhibitions to the Manawat and encourages the development of new activities and services. Admission to meetings and events organised by affiliated societies The Science Centre Inc and Te Manawa Art Society.
